Scenes from the Farm

Spring is in full swing and so is the Youth Farm. I cant believe how much is happening everyday! This past week alone we had the Go Green! class, HSPS Gym Classes (the gym floor is being redone), field trips from a local elementary school, the Urban Farm Training Program, restaurant harvesting and sales and of course A LOT OF STRAWBERRY EATING!

We are also gearing up for our Farmers Market and CSA, both start June 20th.We have turned in almost all our cover crop from the winter, by hand. Yes thats right, we do all our work by hand. This protects our soil and the planet (while building muscles!).


We have put in thousands of seedlings and lots and lots of little seeds. Here is a list of what we have planted so far:

  • Onions; red, yellow & bunching
  • Kale, lacinato, red russian & curly

  • Cucumbers; coroto, jackson pickling & marketmore
  • Collards; 
  • Beets; merlin, touchstone
  • Broccoli, early spring flowering & blue wind
  • Cabbage
  • Salad Mix
  • Braising Greens
  • Bok Choi
  • Purple Kohlrabi
  • Leeks
  • Spinach
  • Lettuce
  • Radishs, baby bell, cherry & french
  • Zuchini
  • Chard and of course herbs!
  • Cilantro

  • Lavender

  • Chocolate Mint
